Corporate Bookings for February / March 2025
I haven't made a report for a while as it has been quiet over the January & February months.
February:
13th - Aspiring Wanderers - Fin McRae hosted a morning for the Alzheimers Group
28th - Roofing Hub team came along to enjoy the facilities and BBQ which they sponsored the roof, so a win, win all around.
March:
8th - ASB had a reunion after the A&P on Saturday night. Thanks to Paul (Bar) Phil Studholme & Ian Hall as helpers who were relieved quite early as the visitors were more concentrated on chatting catching up with each other.
9th - Bryan Lloyd's 80th celebration - a very flash and highly planned event which many people enjoyed.
15th - Girls Hen Party - a small group and an all female hosting team with Sally organising, Alison (Bar) Jan, Jenny and Bonnie. Photo below Sally not included she was the photographer.
20th - Fluid booking which took the option of paying green fees, and not incurring the higher charges.
20th - Jennian Homes/Master Builders - Tom had 3 helpers - Greg, Alister & Trevor - an overkill as only 1/2 of them turned up.
27th - GJ Gardners V Stonewood Tournament. Run by the Hurleys with Vals help. They plan on future games, great business to host. Photo below - Holding the trophy between them - Mark Harry of Stonewood on the left and Paddy Kilbride of G J Gardner Homes.
28th - Breens Builders - Run by Gordon Hall, Ian Hall and the Alisons. This was their first visit and they loved it.
Feedback from these groups is so positive, amazed at our facilities, our friendly helpers and reasonable rates. Long may it continue.
Bookings are quietening off now we approach colder weather, we can enjoy the break before the Stadium requests begin to flow in.
Thank you to all of those involved in helping/running these events. These bookings certainly contribute to our fundraising efforts thus keeping our subs down.
Kathryn Mitchell - Booking Liaison Officer

Mens Day Season Finishes 24th March
The last Men's Club Day was held on Monday afternoon, 24 March. As usual the day was well attended and attendance over the season has averaged 26 keen members.
The organisers of Club Day, Alister Moore (Convenor) and Derek Hope, were well satisfied with the number attending and with the quality of the play. Two games of one hour twenty minutes duration were played each afternoon, together with raffles and a period of fellowship at the end of play.
On the final day, there was a fierce competition for lucrative prize money and, after all manner of calculations, the teams of Greg Hurt and Geoff Thomas could not be separated and therefore shared the prize money.
Thanks to Ian for this contribution

Roxburgh Bowling Club
The furthest that we travel each year for pennants and interclub is to the picturesque Roxburgh Bowling Club.(123 km) situated in the heart of the fruitlands area, the wonderful Teviot valley. The Club has a wonderful pavilion opened in 1950 and two immaculate grass greens.
Online the Club's 1922 records describe the annual balance sheet as being the 9th so the club was likely established about 1912. In 1922 the club was recorded as having 37 members, 18 of which were ladies.
It is one of the smaller clubs and now has 27 members. With four tournaments a year the club enjoys a lot of participation from Southland and Otago players. Regular representative games are scheduled at the Roxburgh Bowling Club due to its proximity to both Southland and Otago and its history of having very fine greens. The club is known for good food and hospitality. It is very much part of the Roxburgh community and runs a successful Wednesday evening where all the rinks are full from community bowlers..
Both of our men's and womens Central Otago Coaches / selectors are members of the Roxburgh Club. Ric Hunt and Carl Street. Both Carl and Ric are BowlsNZ accredited coaches.

We encourage you to share this with your membership to allow them to contribute to the survey.
Kia ora
We'd like to invite you to take part in the Voice of Participant survey about your bowls experience this season (or if you’re a parent/guardian of a participant under 14, their experience).
What is the purpose of this survey and why should I take part?
The survey helps Bowls New Zealand, your region and your club to better meet the needs of participants, by understanding what is working well, not so well, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Your feedback is always valuable, and participation is, of course, voluntary. However, the more people that respond, the more accurate our understanding will be.
By completing the survey, you'll go into the draw to win one of three prize packs.
How long will it take? The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.
InMoment, an independent research company, is running this confidential survey on behalf of Bowls New Zealand and Sport NZ. Results will not be reported in a way that will allow you to be individually identified.
Thanks in advance for helping to improve our sport!
