March 2023 Newsletter

From the President

The highlight of the month has been the club hosting 3 days of the Summerset Nationals with some of the Country’s best bowlers in action and some great games played on our green.

Visiting bowlers along with Mark Cameron Bowls NZ C.E.O were full of praise for our facilities along with catering, organisation, etc.as well as very favourable comments on how our green was playing.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed their time in making this such a resounding success.

Special thanks to Kate,Heather,Helen and their team for the outstanding catering they provided and everyone who provided home baking. It all went down a treat.
It is the Boards intention to make a donation to some of the Bowling Club’s that have been seriously affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. We did the same a few years ago for clubs in Christchurch affected by the earthquake.

Also over the next few weeks we are hosting 13 pupils from Mt.Aspiring College who are going through some bowls exercises towards their N.C.A exams.Who knows maybe they will catch the bug!

Finally  best wishes to Marilyn Steel,Bev Mee and Richie Muir will be representing the centre over the next month.

Congratulations to the winners Val & Marilyn.

It was neck and neck until near the end, very hot and a great turnout of spectators.

The sun was blinding the bowlers eyes so someone had a brilliant idea to repurpose the mats.
